Light Roast
Boone's Brew
Origin: Kenyan, Nicaraguan Geisha, Ethiopian
Process: Washed
Tasting notes: Fruity with milk chocolate undertones
Boone’s Trading Post was located at the corner of Bridge Road and Eclipse Drive and is currently the BP Station. It originally was a Gulf Service Station and got the name Boone’s in the 1980’s. While the gasoline brands and ownership has changed over the years, the name Boone’s endures among the community.
Medium Roast
Captain Lip’s Roast: Breakfast Blend
Origin: Papua New Guinea and Kenyan
Process: Washed
Tasting notes: Strawberries, nuts, dark chocolate, citrus
Captain Lepron “Lip” Johnson was a boat builder famous for building the Chesapeake, the second largest deck boat built in the Chesapeake Bay region. According to an article in the Suffolk News-Herald, Captain Johnson was “one of the finest men who ever lived” in the eyes of his community. He owned and operated Johnson’s Marine Railway, a boatbuilding yard. Captain Lip lived in our family’s current home.
Deep Water Dick
Origin: Nicaraguan Geisha
Process: Washed
Tasting Notes: Caramel, Hazelnut, and Chocolate
Deep Water Dick was a beloved tugboat captain and oysterman from the Eclipse community. When fishing for oysters he known for working the longest oyster tongs on the river.
Possum Holler
Origin: Guatemalan
Process: Washed
Tasting Notes: Pecan and mild citrus
Possum Hollow separates Eclipse from Crittenden, and we, like a lot of you, love the name.
Devil’s Gorge Espresso
Origin: Ethiopian, Brazilian, and Guatemalan
Process: Washed
Tasting notes: Chocolate chip cookies, cherry, baked apples, Snickers Bar, and dates
Part of what is now Eclipse Drive was once known as Devil’s Gorge.
Saltaire Coffee
Origin: Sumatra, Mexican Chiapas, and Indonesian
Process: Washed
Tasting notes: Blackberry jam and brown sugar
History: Carl Bagnell, who operated the oyster and crab business, and Charles Gray Adams, who was the boat builder, were partners in the Adams Oyster Company in Crittenden. Their boats were the Kat and the Virginia Lee. Their Saltaire Brand oysters feature a girl waterskiing on the label. That figure is our good friend and neighbor, Ginny Bagnell, the daughter of Carl Bagnell.
Bleakhorn Coffee
Origin: Costa Rican, Brazilian, and Columbian
Process: Anaerobic
Tasting Notes: Red Berries, chocolate, vanilla, and nuts
History: The Nansemond Fish and Oyster Company was owned by Charles Bagnell and Selby (Boosey) Mardre, and their brand of oysters was called Bleakhorn Oysters. The Nansemond Fish and Oyster Company later merged with the Adams Oyster Company to become the Nansemond-Adams Oyster Company. Our neighbor, Stanley, is the son of Boosey Mardre.

Waterman’s Espresso

Process: Washed
Tasting notes: Nuttiness, Crème brûlée, and caramel
History: The Crittenden-Eclipse neighborhood is home to generations of watermen, boat builders, and fishermen who have worked on the nearby rivers and creeks. Our farm is within walking distance of Johnson & Sons Seafood, and we are fortunate to have a continuing example of a working waterfront in our community.
